Are there still knocking or rattling rearshocks with new Koni FSD's now a days ?

  • Well I had that ratteling Koni FSD issue when I fitted the Abarth rattle Koni 500 kit for my 500 Abarth series 1 years ago. Many years later end of 2015 I got my Turismo series 3. That ones had the same issue after 2 or 3 months. The Turismo was fitted with Koni FSD from factory. Fortunately this time Fiat knew how to solve this issue. So I would expect this crap to happen again with a factory new Abarth but not yet sure. :-/

  • Fiat/Abath solved that issue by replacing the rear Koni FSD dampers not only with identical ones as done in the past not successful but with ones that were slightly different. They told me it was the cylinder moving in and out that caused that noise while I always thought it was the mounts and bushings. Whatever it was, the ratteling noise finally is gone and did never appear again, not even after two years.

  • Hans, for me the Koni FSD was a great improvement. My 500 Abarth was harder before. The FSD made it more comfortable. I had strong forces in the steering when accelerating in the 2nd gear before which are gone now. The FSD only feels a bit dangerous at emergency brake from high speeds, but beside this it feels quite good for everyday to me. Maybe not so for use on a race track where it may feel to soft.

  • We've got a Abarth 595 of the third series, build on 5th january 2016. It has mounted the Koni FSD and we didn't have any trouble with the shock absorbers yet. In my opinion it is a great solution for the use on the street, even for faster cornering. But I defently recommend to reduce movement in the suspension with powerflex bushes. We'll also use the DNA anti rollbar kits for the front and rear soon which should also improve the suspension very much!
